Joint Sample Measurement Guide

If you can't send physical samples, these measurements tell us exactly what your joints look like. All you need is a digital caliper. Every value is taken in millimeters (mm), with light contact only — don't compress the paper. The video below walks through all four readings.

The four readings

01

Max diameter — tip

Hold the joint tip-up. Close the jaws on the very tip — the widest point — until they just touch the paper. Record the reading.

02

Max diameter — crutch

Move to the crutch zone, just above the filter. Close gently to light contact and record the diameter.

03

Overall length

Lay the joint flat and span it end to end — tip to the base of the filter. Close until both jaws touch and record.

04

Crutch length

Span just the crutch section from the base of the joint. Close gently and record the length.

Log it and send it back

Measure 20 individual joints per SKU — all four readings on each — and log every value in the Wheel Measurement spreadsheet on page 2 of the SOP. When the sheet is complete, email a photo or scan of it to gianluc@sortingrobotics.com.
